The story of Patrick Giff was a very short sketch, just a few sentences to round out a piece on Ramparts Cemetery on the outskirts of Ypres. Ramparts is one of the most picturesque cemeteries in a country where there is no shortage of beautiful resting places.

While brief, the story afforded me an opportunity to learn about tunnelling in the Canadian Expeditionary Force and also delve into the lives of some of the other men who served alongside Patrick, and sadly, killed alongside him. Like every narrative the story of the 2nd Canadian Tunnelling Company, and Patrick Giff, uncovered mysteries – some answered, some left untold.

Here is the path to the story of Patrick Giff.
